Elf

This year we're trying out some new traditions.  Maybe to help stem off the sad, maybe because we would have tried them out anyways.  Either way, this holiday season is going to be hard.  But that doesn't mean Edward (who is rather happily oblivious) can't enjoy it.

The first new tradition we're trying out is having Edward open up a Christmas story book each Sunday before Christmas, starting the first Sunday of Dec. (yesterday).  We got him some new books and wrapped them all up.  We'll let you know how the rest go, but the first seems to have been a success.  He ripped the paper and seemed at least a little excited about it.  We're hoping this will help get him warmed up for Christmas and he'll learn how to unwrap and be excited about his presents.

The next is an Elf on the shelf.  We picked up one at Target on Black Friday.  We got a girl elf and Edward opened her up last night.  We decided to name her M.E. (pronounced Emmy).  We liked the idea that Ethne is watching us, but didn't want to outright name the elf after her.  Edward doesn't quite understand what's going on with her, but he will.  Until then I will have fun trying out some of the fun things I've seen on pinterest.  Today she is on top of our book shelf, keeping an eye on all of us.
