Red, Yellow, and Green

Our primary colors (while driving) are 1,2,3, red, yellow, and green..........

As you have seen form Shauna's post yesterday, the traffic light has been installed at Old Bingham Highway and U-111 and is functioning.

Thanks go out to many who have helped push this along: Gary Curtis who as a volunteer firefighter in Copperton, has picked up broken bodies at this intersection. He has been fighting for improvements here for more than 10 years. My thanks to you for your lasting fight. To Representative Jim Bird, thanks for getting involved and helping speed up this much needed improvement. Thanks also to officials from the following entities: UDOT, Salt Lake County, the cities of West Jordan and South Jordan for working together to make this happen. Thanks to law enforcement who have been putting in extra patrols to better control speeds along this stretch of U-111. And to all others who were instrumental in getting this done.

I realize that there will still be crashes here, due to drivers who think they can push the light. But the number and severity will be decreased by having this light in place. I hope that no one else has to experience anything like what Melissa and Lawrence have experienced at this location again.

Please remember, even though traffic lights seem to be a nuisance, they are in place to save lives and they actually do help facilitate better traffic flow (think four-way-stop here). Drive safely, think of others while on the road at least as much as you think of yourself.
