Chocolate Toast

I decided this was the post I wanted to do as of Sunday night, but I have had so much going on I haven't had a chance to post it until now.  Today I want to talk about one of Ethne's favorite breakfasts - "Chocolate Toast".  "Chocolate toast" is easy to make.  1) Get some bread and toast it.  2) Put on your favorite chocolate spread.  In our home we like to use Nutella.  If you have never had Nutella, I highly recommend it.  It is a chocolate-hazelnut spread that is almost completely irresistible.

Recently Melissa and I were talking about some of Ethne's favorite things.  When it came to food, the first thing that came to my mind was "Chocolate Toast".  She was great at making a mess of it (it helps when Melissa uses it as  a thick frosting instead of a spread.  Then, to top it off, Ethne had a special way of eating toast, she could even eat bagels this way.  She would push up the middle and then plant her face into it, eating the middle out of the bread and leaving the crust in tact.  She would eat the crust about once out of every 20 times, but usually she left it whole on her plate.  Then, she always needed a bath.  It was a great food to give her on Sunday mornings while we would be getting ready for church.  She would sit on the floor in our room (where we could make sure she wasn't getting into trouble) and watch "Minions" (Despicable Me) until it was her turn to get ready.  She loved it!  Our little boy has started eating it as well, but he is more civilized and less messy about it.

Because Ethne loved "Chocolate Toast" so much, I have decided to designate this Saturday - August 25, 2012, officially "Chocolate Toast Day."  In memory of Ethne and her love of "Chocolate Toast"  I will be having some Toast with Nutella on top and I invite all of you to join me for this great breakfast.  To make it even better, enjoy it with your family.  If your kids get half as excited as Ethne did to eat chocolate for breakfast, you will have the perfect start to your day.

If you don't read this post until after this Saturday, go ahead and designate the next Saturday as you official "Chocolate Toast Day" and enjoy some of the best toast and time with your family that you can.

Feel free to leave a comment and tell us about your "Chocolate Toast Day" as well.  Thanks.
