Where did Ethne-Sue come from?

Some may wonder why there are references to "Ethne-Sue" when her real name is Mary Ethne.

I am not sure of the origin, but Shauna and I frequently would call nieces "Sister Sue" when they were young. It makes it really easy when talking to one of the many to have a generic nickname.

We have always had some nickname(s) for our children. Melissa has had a few, but the one that has stuck the longest, that we still use today is Chicky.

I started calling Ethne, Ethne-Sue from the first time I saw her. And it has pretty much stuck around our hoouse. Even (two-year-old) Isaac walks around the house "Ethne-Sue, Ethne-Sue."

It is amazing how such a little person can so quickly burrow their way into your heart.
