More from Melissa...

Another post from the past...
November 11, 2011

Two years ago today, at this time, my baby girl was about an hour old.  I was still recovering from my epidural and Lawrence was kind of reeling.  Two years ago today a fiery little red-head came into this world (she had been in our lives a little longer).  I still can't fathom how she got her red hair, but we love it!  I am so incredibly thankful for this silly little girl.  I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father trusted me enough to send this beautiful little girl to me to raise.

I love her little maniacal giggle and her goofy run.  I love the way she talks gibberish like I should understand every word.  I love how she loves to play with her uncles and I am so thankful that they get along well.  I love that she loves her brother and I am thankful that she really didn't get very jealous of him.  I love this little girl so much, it's impossible to express.  She is our sassy little princess and we wouldn't trade her for the world!

This little girl made me a mommy and for that I will be eternally grateful.  To quote Elder Anderson's talk from last conference: “Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. It is not something to do if you can squeeze the time in. It is what God gave you time for.”

I remember hearing in my patriarchal blessing that I would be called to be a wife and a mother and that one sentence made me happier than anything else the patriarch said.  I can't believe how fast the last two years have gone by and I wish things would just slow down a bit so I can relish the time I have with this child of mine.  Happy birthday sweet girl!  Thank you for all you are to me and your daddy.
